SMM ATTENDS BUSINESS OF FARMING for 3RD YEAR

ASAP ~ Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project hosts the Business of Farming Conference every year in Asheville NC. What makes this conference unique is the extraordinary opportunity to participate in the buyer-grower meeting for several hours in the afternoon. The format for the meeting is based on ‘speed-dating’ where buyers sit at their tables and growers approach them for a one-on-one quick-connect discussion to see if they are a match. The various workshops throughout the day discuss topics such as “Selling to Restaurants'“, “Planning CSA”, “Farmers’ Markets” and “Niche Meat Production” and “Business Planning and Legal Know How”. To top it off, numerous vendors attend offering services such as lending, soil analysis, packaging and customized T-shirt and Caps.
